Haskovo region is situated in the Central Southern Bulgaria and occupies territory of 4 029 sq m. There is part of Rhodope mountain and Arda river. The population in this municipality was 267 900 in 2004. The major cities are Haskovo, Dimitrovgrad, Harmanly and Svilengrad.
